Transformation is a hot topic in our world and everyone is looking for their opportunity to make a change. Popular television shows promise transformation of appearance, dancing skills, homes, child behavior, marriage, and general happiness. Although these shows may be entertaining, transformation is never mastered by changing the outward. True transformation begins in the heart. As a follower of Christ, you should be in the process of transformation every day. This process is called sanctification which is striving to obey God in every thought, word, and deed. Paul described sanctification in this way, “Neither yield ye your members [body] as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God” (Romans 6:13). Simply put, our new life in Christ should be used for good, not evil.
So, how does transformation take place? Over the next several weeks we will be discussing the essential elements which will help us be transformed: scripture, prayer, accountability, giving, and serving.
